Constipation is a common problem among people of all age group. In this condition the individual experiences problems with bowel movements or unusually dry stool.

Causes of constipation :- Not enough fiber in the diet
- Fast Food

- Ignoring the urge to have a bowel movement
- Dehydration and liver problem
- Specific diseases or conditions, such as stroke
- Problems with the colon and rectum
- Cow's milk
- Problems with intestinal function
Remedies :- Generally all fruits, except banana and jack fruit are beneficial in the treatment of constipation. Certain fruits are, however, more effective. Bael fruit is regarded as the best of all laxatives. It cleans and tones up the intestines.
- Warm lemon water taken before meals stimulates digestion.
- Guava is another effective remedy for constipation. One or two guavas should be taken everyday.
- A deficiency of B vitamins can also cause constipation, therefore having foods high in B vitamins - such as almonds, most leafy greens, whole grains, would be beneficial.
- Grapes have proved very beneficial in overcoming constipation. They also tone up the stomach and intestines and relieve the most chronic constipation.
- Orange is also beneficial in the treatment of constipation. The general stimulating influence of orange juice excites peristaltic activity and helps prevent the accumulation of food residue in the colon.
- Toning up the muscles also helps in the treatment of constipation. Fresh air, outdoor games, walking, swimming, and exercise play an important role in strengthening the muscles, and thereby preventing constipation.
